It was a historic year. Under the helm of Jud Heathcote, the Spartans won the national title with a 75-64 victory in the final game against ISU. With the help of MOP Magic Johnson, MSU's win over Indiana State was its first over a number one ranked team. It wasnt until 2007 that it happened again.
