Checkmate, Cleveland. In 2022 the Guardians hosted the John Marshall High School chess team in a tournament at Progressive Stadium, and our super-soft look reps the budding relationship between the Cleveland squad and one of the best youth chess teams in the nation. Though Guardians players Steven Kwan and Austin Hedges put up a valiant effort, the high schoolers prevailed - but a beautiful friendship and passion for chess was born.

A portion of net proceeds from the sales of our Cleveland Guardians Chess Club tee will benefit Cleveland Metropolitan School District Chess Clubs.
